GINGOOG City ― Mayor Erick Cañosa has ordered Barangay 14 locked down on Tuesday evening, particularly in Block 3 and a portion of Block 5 where the three confirmed positive resided.
Cañosa immediately issued an executive order to lock down the area upon receiving the results of the three patients who tested positive for the virus.
It is the first local transmission in the city on record, Cañosa said in a phone interview.
He said actually there are 13 members of the family already under quarantine since last week. They were swabbed and three of them tested positive for Covid-19.
The three Covid-19 positive patients are a 28-year-old female tagged as confirmed case no. 28 local transmission, a 24-year-old female tagged as confirmed case no. 29, and a seven-year-old girl also tagged as confirmed no. 30
This brings the city’s total confirmed cases to 30.
According to reports, Cañosa said the 24-year-old female confirmed case no. 29 frequently visited her boyfriend who is also positive with the virus in Kibungsod in Magsaysay town in the eastern part of Misamis Oriental.
The place that is also under lockdown in Magsaysay town, it was learned.
She also has a travel history in Talisayan, Misamis Oriental, a town that also has a case of local transmission.
The contact tracing is still going on to determine the origin of the contagion, either from Talisayan or in Magsaysay, Cañosa said.
At least 148 individuals have been affected by the lockdown in Barangay 14, this city, Cañosa added.
The three positive confirmed patients and the other 10 members of the family, who tested negative, are now in the city’s isolation unit in Barangay Pangasihan, Cañosa said.
