CAGAYAN De Oro City is receiving more fishing boats, equipment, livestock and others from the Department of Agriculture soon.

This after House deputy speaker and Cagayan De Oro Rep. Rufus Rodriguez received commitments from DA Secretary William Dar on Wednesday.

“He (Sec. Dar) approved and committed to deliver all those,” said Rodriguez interpelating Dar during the hearings on the proposed 2022 budget of DA, including its attached agencies.

Part of his interpellation, Rodriguez thanked the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) for the water system that already reached the poblacion in Barangay Balubal.

Rodriguez was also able to secure commitment from Vice Chair Raul Daza that P60 million will be allocated for the continuation of irrigation projects in Barangays Balubal, Palalan, Tablon and Indahag, Cagayan de Oro City.

Rodriguez also secured a commitment from Dar for the delivery of a 38 foot fiberglass reinforced plastic fishing boat, the remaining 32 fiber reinforced plastic smaller fishing boats, Norwegian fish cages and gill nets for the fisherfolks of CDO.

Rodriguez thanked the National Dairy Authority for the 100 imported Saanen goats worth P10 million recently received by CDO farmers and received the commitment for the delivery to CDO this December, 2021 of 100 heads of imported dairy cows worth P15 million.

Rodriguez also followed up the delivery of 30 dairy carabaos balance from the Philippine Carabao Center to be delivered before the end of the year.

The PCA already delivered 22 dairy carabaos worth P1.2 million to CDO farmers, according to Rodriguez.

Moreover, he also secured an additional 20,000 coconut dwarf seedlings, Tacunan and Catigan varieties for distribution to CDO farmers for 2022.

Dar and Usec Ariel Cayanan committed to give 3 tractors to the farmers associations in Barangays Balubal, Tablon and FS Catanico.

Rodriguez thanked the DA and its attached agencies NIA, BFAR, NDA, Phil Carabao Center and Phil Coconut Authority particularly Dar, Usec Cayanan, the undersecretaries including DA-10 regional director Carlene Collado for facilitating his requests for the CDO farmers and fisherfolks. (PR)
