First congressional district candidate and the city’s outgoing Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin Uy of the National Unity Party want to focus on economic recovery as the city’s residents have been greatly affected by the pandemic. He understands the importance of the city in the region’s pandemic response.

Dako kaayo tabang atong health facilities sa (Cagayan de Oro) in Covid response. Ang sa uban lugar dinhi ga dalhon sa ato,” he said.

One of those vying for the seven councilor seats in the 1st district, Imee Rose Moreno Lapuz of the National Unity Party, and daughter of outgoing City Mayor and Misamis Oriental gubernatorial bet Oscar Moreno, also highlighted her priority for pandemic response, wellness, and education for the city.

Dr. Irene La Victoria Floro of the People’s Reform Party, educator, Navy reservist, and nurse, running for the 2nd district congressional seat, likewise puts health on top of her list, which includes education, jobs for both young and old, and an ambitious agriculture master plan which includes a 5 billion food city integrated terminal.

“(Taga-i) ninyo og bag-ong nawong ang (Cagayan de Oro). This is the fresh face of leadership,” Floro said.

An independent candidate for 2nd district councilor, Therecilla Dael Padla, despite not being inoculated for the Covid vaccine due to her belief that there was not enough time for clinical studies but has been rolled out for worldwide use, has this to say.

“(Ang) akong stand ana will be to provide multivitamins and grabe na information drive for exercise and healthy lifestyle and just comply with minimum health protocols,” she said.
