TYPHOON Odette (international name: Rai) left hundreds of thousands affected, and several areas in the Caraga Region without power and communications in the typhoon’s aftermath.

Odette pummeled the southern and central regions of the country starting Dec. 16 as it made its first landfall in Siargao Island.

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration classified Odette as a super typhoon when it initially crossed Siargao.

As of this writing, communications are still down in some parts of the Caraga Region that took the brunt of the typhoon, including Siargao, Surigao del Norte, and Dinagat Island province.
