MOST of you will agree, your day never starts until caffeine starts to flow. The moment it kicks in, brain cells act like thunderbolts, and an idea is born.

You may be awake and doing stuff, but not fully alive as when you’ve had that first cup of espresso. As I’m writing this, I’m also having my own dose.

There are some people who only drink coffee in the morning, and that’s it; and there are those, like me, who need it to fully function as a human, as a person, for that matter.

I, on the other hand, is not yet a person until I had that cup. ”My teammate often asked if I’ve had my coffee when they feel that I’m not myself, in other words, bad mood. My mood also does a 360-degree turn when coffee is offered as a peace offering, which by the way, happens too often.

Peace offering and not bribery, like the so-called education brouhaha. And if you are curious, fancy coffee is just not my cup of tea. I love it black and strong and doesn’t need to have a “luxury” brand.

Coffee carries out a number of purposes depending on the person. In an office environment, it perks one who is sleepy, bored, or stressed.

A colleague, who never drinks coffee, suddenly approached me and asked for coffee. It prompted me to blurt, “Stressed ka?” And she said, “Kaayo!”

Coffee can also be an accessory to start a conversation, close a business deal, or have that juicy small talk about just about anything under the glaring sun.

How about you, what’s coffee to you?
