THE government of Misamis Oriental has launched programs that aim to avert climate change and strengthen the provincial government’s disaster response.

The government has even strengthened its climate change mitigation campaign through the Misamis Oriental Provincial Social Welfare Development Office’s Risk Resiliency Program through Cash for Work (RRP-CFW).

Under the said program, beneficiaries, mostly from impoverished families, will be provided jobs such as communal gardening, mangrove reforestation, bamboo tree planting, and a lot more, which aim to help reduce the province’s carbon footprint, prevent flooding, and cultivate the lands.

Those who want to be part of the program are required to submit a copy of their government or valid identification card, such as a national ID, driver’s license, senior citizen ID, and others. If a person lacks a valid ID, he or she can get a certificate of indigency from the local government units of Balingasag, Lagonglong, Salay, Binuangan, Manticao, Naawan, Libertad, and Gitagum.

Meanwhile, the Department of Social and Welfare Development (DSWD)-10 Regional Program Focal on RRP-CFW, Juhanizah Didato, expressed her gratitude for the program’s support from the PGMO and its governor.

Following Governor Peter M. Unabia’s PAGLAUM Development Agenda, Didato looks forward to more program and project collaborations between DSWD-10 and the Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental. (JAKA/PIA-10/Misamis Oriental)
