DIGOS City ― Personnel of Sta. Cruz police station in Davao del Sur is conducting a manhunt against two suspects who gunned down a laborer on the night of June 21 in Sitio Langan, Barangay Coronon.
Lt. Colonel Kristopher Sabsal, Sta. Cruz acting police chief identified the fatality as Arnold Maglinte Alang, 45, a resident of Purok Bagong Silang, Barangay Sinoron in Sta. Cruz town.
After receiving a call for police assistance at about 9:30 pm on Wednesday, PSSg Frederick Laranio, the duty investigator together with other police officers went to the place of the incident to check the veracity of the report.
A 24-year-old witness told police investigator he arrived at the Baliti Farm and Swimming Pool at about 8 pm on Wednesday when he saw the victim lying lifeless on the ground and noticed multiple gunshot wounds in different parts of the body.
Another witness told police she was at her house when she heard multiple gunshot bursts at about 7:50 pm coming from the area of Baliti Farm and Swimming Pool where moments later two unidentified individuals passed by the house heading South of the area.
The suspects were wearing black jackets, and one of them was holding an undetermined caliber of handgun as they passed by.
Sabsal in a press statement said they are conducting a thorough investigation as to the identities of the gunmen and the motive behind the killing of the laborer.
