DIGOS City ― A motorcycle driver was declared dead on arrival at the hospital, while another driver and back-rider sustained injuries following a head-on collision at Purok-5, Barangay Buenavista, Bansalan town in Davao del Sur yesterday.

P/Captain Orlando Udalve, Bansalan OIC police chief identified the fatality as Darwin Villila, a resident of Odaka, Barangay San Miguel, Digos City.

Those who were injured were Alfredo Ayoc, and Ariel Mandrial, 35, who are both residents of Purok Daisy, Kilometer 82, Barangay Marber in Bansalan.

Bansalan traffic investigator reported that Villila was driving a Rusi motorcycle from Bansalan proper heading to Sitio Balutakay, Barangay Managa in Bansalan, while Ayoc was driving a Honda CB-150 motorcycle together with Mandrial en route to Bansalan proper when the incident occurred.

Investigators were told that upon reaching Purok-5 in Barangay Buenavista, the Honda CB-150 swerved to the other lane and crashed into the Rusi motorcycle that was running in the opposite direction resulting in injuries to the driver and the back-rider.

Responding rescue vehicles of the Bansalan MDRRMC and the Bureau of Fire Protection immediately rushed those who were involved in the incident to the hospitals.

Villila was brought to Mabama Hospital in Bansalan town, but he was declared dead on arrival due to severe head injury, the police report reads.
