Arsenal swept all golds in the 46-49 years old age bracket when he dominated the sparring, individual Poomsae, power breaking, and team Poomsae categories.

“This event (Masters 1 Division) is actually the premier taekwondo tournament in the US state of Florida,” Arsenal told Gold Star Daily.

Arsenal launched his US campaign in 2019 starting in Chicago and returned home a few months after.

He was set to make another overseas campaign the following year, but the Covid-19 pandemic spoiled it all.

When the borders were opened in 2022, Arsenal returned with resounding success as he scored a double-whammy victory in the 13th International Open Friendship Taekwondo Championships at Eastern Michigan University in the USA.

That year a month later, Arsenal won gold in the traditional poomsae of the master’s division and settled for silver and bronze in the speed kicking and sports poomsae categories of the 2022 Florida International Online Taekwondo Championships.

Arsenal shared that he seriously prepared for the Sunshine State tournament for a year, doing a lot of workouts and discipline.

Arsenal also acknowledged the other Filipinos who won gold medals in their respective age brackets during the US tourney such as Cyriel Jores S. Valdez (Poomsae), Edison Bagaipo (sparring), and Arman Joseph Juanitas (sparring).
