DIGOS City ― It was too much of a coincidence that transpired on Saturday night at Purok-23, Barangay Poblacion, Magsaysay, Davao del Sur when two males driving their respective motorcycles overshoot from the road, crashed into a tree, fell into a creek and both died just a gap of less than an hour.

Captain Rodrigo Dumangas, Jr., Magsaysay police chief in a press statement, identified the victims as Dominic Pari Si Cayon, 18; and Ryan Purog Pari, 28; both residents of Purok-7, Barangay Balnate in Magsaysay town.

Dumangas said Cayon was driving a motorcycle traveling along the Matanao, Davao del Sur to Magsaysay provincial road at about 11:30 pm of July 8.

When he reached a curved section of the road, Cayon lost control of the handlebars where the motorcycle overshot from the road and crashed into a nearby ‘Camachile’ tree, and fell into the creek in the process.

Alarmed residents immediately rushed to help Cayon who was at that time lying unconscious, the report said.

Meanwhile, Dumangas also reported that at about 12:10 pm on July 09, Pari was also traveling in the same direction on board a Rusi motorcycle.

Upon reaching the same curve the motorcycle Pari was driving also overshot from the road, hit the same ‘Camachile’ tree, and fell into the creek.

Emergency responders from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office brought them to the hospital, but the attending physician declared the victims, dead on arrival, the police said.

It was learned that Cayon and Pari both came from a disco at Barangay Blocon, Magsaysay town.

Dumangas added that both drivers were not wearing crash helmets at the time of the incident. He urged motorcycle drivers to wear crash helmets when driving to prepare for such eventualities that might save their life.
