GINGOOG City ― Thirty-one scholars from indigenous peoples of the city received their respective certificates of commendation given by the members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod during an awarding rite immediately after its regular session yesterday morning.

City Councilor Evelyn G. Cañosa, Chair Committee on Education of the City Council, said in an interview this morning, the majority of the Sangguniang Panlungsod appreciated the success of the different graduates who received certificates of commendation each.

She said the new batch of graduated scholars is part of the commitment of the local government through City Mayor Erick G. Cañosa to extend help, particularly to the Higaonon tribe.

The city government has allocated funds for them to finish their respective courses, Councilor Cañosa said

The graduated scholars are composed of the following two doctors, two nurses, two social workers, three public administration, seven criminologists, 14 education, and one information technology, said Councilor Cañosa.

For his part, City Councilor Estoriano S. Mandahinog, IPMR (Indigenous People Mandatory Representative), thanked the city government of Gingoog for giving an opportunity for the youth from the indigenous people who are now graduating from their respective courses as city scholars.
