The announcement was made by the Mayor’s Office Chief of Staff, Shiela Lumbatan Wednesday.

The four-story, eight-classroom building is part of the first phase of the ‘Tatak Klarex’ classroom project, featuring a built-in multi-media package that includes a SMART TV, projector, sound system, and a desktop computer.

“Mayor Klarex aims to provide students and teachers with a conducive environment for learning,” said Lumbatan, adding that to ensure safety, the classrooms are equipped with a functional fire alarm system that can be crucial in times of emergencies.

Lumbatan said that as part of his (Mayor Uy) classroom projects, the mayor will also provide student chairs, teacher’s tables, window grills, and comfort rooms.

The new four-story, eight-classroom building at West City Central School will help address the current classroom shortage experienced not only in Cagayan de Oro but also throughout the country, as reported by the Department of Education.

“This shortage has led to emergency classes, highlighting the need for such infrastructure projects,” said Lumbatan.

Lumbatan also said officials from Brgy Carmen, the Department of Education-Division of Cagayan de Oro, Local School Board members, and City Hall staff are expected to witness the groundbreaking ceremony.
