THE Cagayan de Oro City College – Technical Skills and Technology Department is offering free vocational courses for the fourth quarter training this year. The announcement was made by Sheila Lumbatan, the Chief of Staff of the City Mayor’s office.
Lumbatan said Interested individuals have the opportunity to enroll in courses such as Plumbing NCI, Shielded Metal Arc NCI, and Carpentry NCII.
Throughout the training period, participants will receive a scholarship allowance from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), according to Lumbatan.
“Enrollment for these courses began on September 14 and lasted until September 17,” Lumbatan said, adding that classes are scheduled to commence on September 18.
To acquire these free technical-vocational skills, individuals can visit the city college campus located at Brgy Agusan in the city.
They are also encouraged to like the official Facebook page of the City College of Cagayan de Oro-Technical Skills and Technology Department and pre-register through the provided link.
Furthermore, Lumbatan said during the ‘Klarex nga Serbisyo sa Baryo’ event led by Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy on September 16 and 17, the courses will be promoted in Brgy Patag and Camaman-an.
In addition to the vocational courses, she said Mayor Uy recently appointed Dr. Jestoni Babia as the interim president of the newly established City College.
Lumbatan said Dr. Babia’s appointment was based on Executive Order 232 series of 2023 and is expected to contribute significantly to the academic standards and culture of the college.
Mayor Uy has expressed his confidence in Dr. Babia’s abilities and recognizes his expertise in the field of education.
“This appointment further demonstrates Mayor Klarex’s commitment to improving the quality of education in the city,” said Lumbatan.
Dr. Babia’s selection as the interim president serves as a testament to his knowledge and experience in the education sector, she added.
