THE city government of Cagayan de Oro’s Human Resource and Development Department (HRMD) recently conducted its annual outreach program for 28 children aged 8-17 who are victims of abuse, abandonment, and neglect.

The event took place on September 15 at the Calabrian Children’s Foundation in Barangay Bayabas, according to the City Mayor’s Office chief of staff Shiela Lumbatan.

As part of the program, Lumbatan said the group distributed various donations such as hygiene kits, school supplies, and gently used clothing.

Medicines from the City Health Office and JR Borja General Hospital were also provided, along with cash donations from different departments within the city hall and funds left over from the registration fees of the #ColorRun4Fun event held on September 3.

The City Hall Employees Multi-Purpose Cooperative, or CHEMCO, also presented a check to the foundation, according to Lumbatan.

Father Ronnie Lapara, the Executive Director of the Calabrian Children’s Foundation, gratefully accepted the donations.

Aside from receiving these contributions, the children from the Calabrian Children’s Foundation showcased their talents during the outreach program, delighting everyone in attendance.

“This outreach program was organized in celebration of the 123rd Philippine Civil Service Anniversary,” Lumbatan said.

She added that it was attended by administrative officers from various departments of the LGU-CDO, including her representing Mayor Rolando Klarex Uy, personnel from the HRMD headed by HRMD OIC Xsyclyn Faith ‘Kansai’ Lumbatan, and other officials.
