The latter is reported to not be at his best, especially during the Hamas-Israeli war. Before important meetings, it’s said he is “drugged up” to fulfill his tasks. When the administered drugs lose efficacy, someone close to the president handles communication.

Even during the time of the late Ferdinand Marcos, there were rumors about health issues. Despite public knowledge of his ailment, there were speculations about Malacañan having a converted “hospital” portion.

When Duterte became President, rumors about his health circulated. His adviser mentioned “burgers disease” due to excessive smoking. Duterte later admitted to taking “fentanyl.” People became suspicious, and rumors persisted, including a time when his spokesperson, Harry Roque, was left in the dark about Duterte’s whereabouts.

Present President PBBM is not rumored to be sick, but he faces questions about the rice price. Some suggest he should head the Department of Tourism or Transportation due to his frequent travels.

While Duterte might not be very sick, he’s concerned about rumors regarding his daughter Sara’s possible impeachment. The ICC poses a potential threat. In conclusion, leadership, especially of a nation, is likened to cigarette smoking — it’s dangerous to one’s health.
