THE Bureau of Customs Port of Cagayan de Oro, in collaboration with the BOC Intelligence Group (IG), made a significant interception at the Mindanao Container Terminal in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental.

On December 15, 2023, they discovered two smuggled luxury vehicles that were misdeclared as used truck replacement parts.

The shipment, which arrived from Korea on December 12, 2023, was consigned to M. Aguila Car Trading.

Initially, it was declared as containing 1,045 pieces of truck replacement parts.

However, upon closer inspection, it was revealed that the shipment actually contained two units of Porsche luxury vehicles.

These vehicles are estimated to have a combined value of 30 million pesos.

The BOC Intelligence Group received derogatory information regarding this particular shipment.

In response, they requested the Port of Cagayan de Oro to issue a Pre-Lodgment Control Order (PLCO) against it.

Following this, a joint spot-check examination request was made by CIIS CDO and Surigao Field Station Chief Oliver Valiente and XIP CDO Chief Jenkinn Gutierrez.

District Collector Alexandra Y. Lumontad promptly issued an alert order, ordering a full examination of the container.

It was during this examination that the smuggled luxury vehicles were discovered.

In accordance with the violation of Section 1400 in relation to Section 1113 of RA 10863, also known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act, a warrant of seizure and detention will be issued against the shipment.

Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio emphasized the commitment of the ports in protecting the borders and ensuring thorough inspections of goods to prevent the entry of illicit cargo.

The Port of Cagayan de Oro fully supports the 5-point priority program of the BOC, which aims to combat smuggling in all its forms.

This interception aligns with their mission to uphold the integrity of the customs process and prevent the illegal importation of goods.
