HOST Tagoloan bucked internal bickerings among its coaching staff earlier that keyed the Ramram Labaya-led victory of its 15-under squad against Jasaan, 88-84 on Sunday’s championship games of the Misamis Oriental Youth Basketball Tournaments at the Tagoloan Dome.

The shifty point guard Labaya, who rose to basketball prominence after he made it to the Mythical Five as the mainstay of Northern Mindanao’s elementary team in the 2023 Palarong Pambansa, is expected to spearhead Tagoloan to more successful hardcourt battles ahead shortly.

“Offense wins games, defense wins championships,” coach Sherwin Sanchez blurted this line in constantly reminding his young Tagoloan dribblers.

Fronted by the explosive duo of Angelo Josh Jacutin and Joemicko Ricaplaza, Jasaan held its ground in the 18-under rivalry by upstaging the previously unbeaten Villanueva, 73-71 in the finals.
