ARMY’S 4th Infantry Division Gender Advocacy and Development Office (GADO) chief, Major Daisy P. Baguio highlighted women’s rights and their role in society during a press briefing on Wednesday.

As Women’s Month approaches, Baguio emphasized the importance of women balancing their responsibilities as working mothers and as leaders in organizations such as the Gender and Development Office (GADO).

She mentioned an upcoming program at the Philippine Commission on Women’s event, scheduled from March 18-22, 2024, at USTP. 

The program aims to raise awareness among college students about the risks of NPA recruitment on university campuses.

“Baguio emphasized the importance of loving and protecting our family, as they are our source of inspiration,” she said, urging women to prioritize both work and family.

Major Baguio discussed the specific goals and priorities of GADO, focusing on protecting victims of abuse and harassment within the organization.

She expressed her dedication to empowering women and creating a safe environment for them to succeed in all areas of society.

Encouraging women to speak out and seek help in times of difficulty, she highlighted the strength that comes from unity and solidarity.

As Women’s Month approaches, Major Daisy Baguio’s advocacy for women’s rights and safety serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration.

Her commitment to promoting gender equality and tackling women’s challenges in society shows how important it is to keep working towards a fairer world for everyone.

She also gave updates on the presence of the New People’s Army (NPA) in Bukidnon, mentioning a decrease in their numbers because of government projects like building market roads.

Major Baguio pointed out that many former NPA members have realized their mistakes and surrendered.

Furthermore, she emphasized the significance of community involvement in dealing with women’s rights and safety issues.

She stressed the importance of taking action to prevent and fight against abuse and harassment of women.

During the briefing, Major Baguio continued her work with GADO and other organizations. Her message of empowering and supporting women strongly resonates, leading the way for positive change and progress in the fight for gender equality.
