Marawi City Mayor Majul Gandamrah extended a warm welcome to the delegates, urging all attendees to pledge their support for SIAP’s policies and initiatives, particularly in fostering sustainable development and peace in the Bangsamoro region.

The presence of Provincial Governor Abdusakur Mahail Tan of Sulu, who traveled extensively alongside 16 mayors from 19 municipalities, congressmen, and board members, underscored the significance of the event.

Governor Tan, among the governors offering support to SIAP and its coalition, emphasized the importance of collective action in driving regional progress.

Originally slated for 2022 but postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the first regular Barmm election is now scheduled for May 12, 2025.

Barmm, established under legislation replacing the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, comprises five provinces: Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Maguindanao, Basilan, and Lanao del Sur.

Vice Gov. Adiong emphasized SIAP’s inclusive nature, saying, “Everyone can join, and we call for unity towards a more prosperous Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.”

The SIAP General Assembly served as a pivotal moment for Bangsamoro leaders to unite in anticipation of historic elections and collective advancement in the region.
