CAGAYAN de Oro is set to host the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair on May 16 and 17, a groundbreaking event aimed at bringing essential government services directly to the people’s doorsteps.

Confirmation of the hosting was announced on Wednesday by 1st District Assistant Director Bert Amplayo, representing Cagayan de Oro 1st District Rep. Lordan Suan’s office, who disclosed that the Congressional Office of Suan had been entrusted by President Ferdinand Marcos to lead this significant initiative.

The fair, which anticipates over 50,000 beneficiaries from across Northern Mindanao, will see the participation of more than 55 government agencies, including prominent bodies such as Philhealth, the Department of Trade and Industry, the Commission on Higher Education, and the Department of Foreign Affairs.

Amplayo also revealed that President Marcos himself is scheduled to grace the inaugural day of the two-day caravan on May 16.

“We can expect the presence of our President on the first day,” Amplayo said.

Among the highlights of the fair is the introduction of the Google Career Certificate, an online training program sponsored by Google.

Ruel Paclipan, Regional Director of the Department of Trade and Industry-10, announced the allocation of 2,000 slots for Northern Mindanao, with a total of 25,000 slots available nationwide, some of which will be made accessible during the event.

Business owners will have the opportunity to avail themselves of free business registration services provided by participating agencies.

Dan Navarro, Regional Director of Tesda-10, outlined plans to recognize vocational course completers, provide allowances to beneficiaries, and conduct profiling during the fair.

Navarro extended an invitation to walk-ins, urging them to explore the latest offerings from Tesda, including virtual welding.

Regarding the venue, Amplayo noted that arrangements are underway to secure a larger space capable of accommodating the expected crowd of 50,000 individuals. Further details regarding the venue will be announced in due course.
