GINGOOG CITY– Mayor Marie de Lara Guingona has just recently concretized 187 villagers’ dream in owning residential lots by counter-parting with the Socialized Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) in the total amount of P2.8 million worth of lot acquisition for the beneficiaries of Barangay Samay Lanzones Rural Poor Association (BASALARUPA) with total land area of 28,664 square meters intended for SHFC’s Community Mortgage Program (CMP) under the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) of the Office of the Philippine Vice President.

“Another mileage of turning our landless residents’ aspiration to have their own dwelling for peaceful and hassle-free living with their families and loved ones”, expresses the chief executive.

“Usa ka katumanan sa among mga pangandoy sulod sa hataas nga katuigan sa among pagpangindahay nga maka-angkon og yuta nga sarang among katukuran sa among puloy-anan”, manifests association president Napoleon Dago.

Serving as the city’s housing czar, Joel Sinatao of the City Planning and Development Office (CPDO) has relayed that the aforesaid Community Association (CA) is being registered as BASALARUPA Homeowners Association, Inc. at the Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board (HLURB) with Certificate of Registration No. 12249 issued on December 11, 2014.

Based on barangay’s study way back in the early 2014, many of these families were living on one of this barangay’s privately owned lands who were advised for relocation in which the active Brgy. Samay council had interceded immediately by negotiating part of the landowner’s lot. “Fortunately, the landowner had cooperated with us then the landless were organized into a community association known as BASALARUPA”, says Punong Brgy. Rolando Morilla.

“All beneficiaries have been encouraged to have their backyards planted with lanzones as part of their fruit-tree growing scheme for habitat restoration”, relates Mr. Sinatao
