EX-BARANGAY chairman William Guialani of Taglimao wrote a letter to the vice mayor to seek an investigation into the quarrying beneath the Maharlika Bridge. He furnished a copy to Councilor Zaldy Ocon, EMB assistant chief for environment Alex Jimenez and this column. Why not the Clenro?

Guialani’s concerns should first be addressed to Clenro since this office is always at the forefront of environmental concerns.

But as far as I can remember, this business has been there for quite a while and was granted a business permit. If their operation is environment-unfriendly and since a concerned citizen like Guialani has lodged a complaint, the normal course is for the agencies concerned to look into it and come up with an official statement, favorable or not to either party.

This is if only to put a closure on the issue.

Motorcycle riders entertain the notion that they can be exemptions to the rule in traffic when caught in a situation.

The light has turned red but across, vehicles have waned to a few. The guy just can’t wait and proceeded to turn left in front of two RTA enforcers. Was he apprehended? No! The two just let it slip away as if nothing happened.

That kind of scene is not rare. But that can’t pass the prying eyes of those in Divisoria where, despite lapses once in a while, motorists hardly escape issuances of citation tickets, or clamps.

Meanwhile, those working to maintain a smooth flow of vehicular traffic on Osmeña to Recto highway should be commended. Under the scorching heat of the sun, they manage the stretch with Luna, Limketkai Drive and Agudo Drive as contributing factors for heavy traffic. Things can be tough when the going is rough in the streets.

The increasing rent in Divisoria must have been very steep that if you’re not getting the needed income, you might as well move to another place.
