The nominees, who were chosen after passing series of nationwide screening activities, interviews, and assessment of their over-all performance as students are: Matthew David from Taguig City; Bernadette Joy Detera from Sorsogon City; and Hazel JesslynUban from Binangonan, Rizal.

Mr. Matthew David is taking up Bachelor of Fine Arts in Industrial Design at UP-Diliman.

Miss Bernadette Joy Detera is taking up Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering also at UP-Diliman.

Miss Hazel JesslynUban, on the other hand is taking up Bachelor of Science in Accountancy at URS-Binangonan.

The three nominees are expected not only to become successful in pursuing their respective courses, but also to contribute to Panasonic’s commitment in leading a better life for the betterment of society.

During the event, as she commended Panasonic for its full support to the country’s education, Dr.Canapi encouraged the new scholars to succeed in their chosen fields of endeavor so as to raise the bar and increase the dignity of Filipino professionals and workers here and abroad.

In his message, Mr.Yasuhira reminded the nominees to put learning to good use and he shared the notion propagated by Panasonic Founder KonosukeMatsuhita that a person, who is fortunate enough to receive a proper education should make the best of what he has learned for himself as well as for society. If he does not, his studies are pointless.

“We have awesome potential, but we must learn how to develop and use that potential properly.  It can be extremely useful, but when we abuse, it can be damaging.  In some cases, it can even harm those whose life is supposed to enhance,” Mr.Yasuhira said.

Both Dr.Matias and Prof.Aliga presented the continuing need for generous partners like Panasonic in molding the next leaders of the country.  They also motivated the three nominees to make use of their scholarship grant to the fullest, especially that they are now relatives by “affinity” as Panasonic scholars.

Panasonic Corporation (Japan) funds the Panasonic Scholarship Program for its localized schemes in the region.  In the Philippines, the program is administered by PMPC and supported by PPRDPH. pr
