Olaguera said police uncovered the threat on Saturday through intelligence work. He said the inelligence information came from Camp Alagar.

A day earlier or on Friday, the city police declared a red alert. Olaguera said a group posing the threat has been identified but the police were still checking its capability. “Bisan raw information pa kini nga reports sa atong mga intelligence operatives, apan dili gihapon kita angayan magkompiyansa. Kay simbako kon mo-attack sila (terrorist group). So mao na nga red alert gyud ta,” said Olaguera. He said he has denied all requests and cancelled all leaves of absence since Friday, and asked the 4th Infantry Division, barangay tanods, reservists, and even criminology students to help in beefing up the security in the city especially during this week’s festivities.

Police have also augmented security personnel at vital government installations, water and power stations, terminals, public markets, shopping centers, churches, and other populated areas in the city.

The city police has also put up check points in all the exit and entrance points of the city, including Iponan, Puerto, San Simon, Pagatpat, and areas near Libona, Baungon, Talakag towns in Bukidnon.
