THE father of murdered Judge Jude Erwin Alaba died in Misamis Oriental on Sunday, barely a week after his son was shot to death outside his courtroom in Baler, Aurora.
Judge Alaba’s father Expedito, 78, died of “natural causes” in his home in lower Jasaan, Misamis Oriental, according to his relatives.
The elder Alaba, who was a former director of the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) in Region 10, died not knowing what happened to his son in Baler.
His son was shot six times in his car by a still unidentified gunman on a motorcycle last Tuesday. The judge’s wife was grazed by a bullet.
The 44-year old Judge Alaba was about to resume hearing cases in Baler after he spent the long weekend in Jasaan and Cagayan de Oro when he was killed in the gun attack. (nitz arancon)
