Capitol’s tourism week features destination promotion contest

Misamis Oriental — This year’s tourism week celebration in Misamis Oriental will highlight a tourist destination promotion contest among its organic cities and towns, the Capitol’s tourism officer said.

Provincial Tourism Officer Mary Lolieben Yamba said the tourism blitz aims to promote the different tourist attractions of the participating towns of Naawan, Manticao, Jasaan, and Medina.

“Amo kining pagpakita kung unsa ang mga strategy sa pag-promote sa mga tourist destination sa probinsya,” Yamba said.

The Capitol has allocated less than P200 thousand for the week long contest.

“Gusto ni Gov. Bambi Emano nga simple lang ang selebrasyon,” added Yamba

Yamba also said that since the development of tourist attractions in the province, tourist arrivals have increased. She, however, did not give the exact figures.

“Even the Flight 387 Shrine in Claveria (town) nga dunay presence sa mga rebel groups, duna gihapon gaadto,” Yamba said.

The provincial tourism office aspires to contribute in achieving 1 billion tourists, 1 billion opportunities of the nationwide campaign of the Department of Tourism.

Among the activities in the week long celebration are cultural shows, capitol inter-departmental Explore MisOr dance contest, presentation of candidates of Miss Philippines Earth-Misamis Oriental, among others.
