SEN. Grace Poe-Llamanzares yesterday announced and launched her bid for the presidency before a jampacked Bahay ng Alumni in the University of the Philippines Diliman, Quezon City last night.

It was a star-studded event, and Poe’s family led by her husband Neil Llamanzares and actress Susan Roces, her adoptive mother.

Poe, 47, announced she was running for President at 7 pm, capping off her speech that laid down a platform of government.

“Ako po si Grace Poe, Pilipino, anak, asawa at ina, at iniaalay ko ang aking sarili sa mas mataas na paninilbihan bilang inyong Pangulo,” she said.

Amidst burst of cheers from the audience, Poe enumerated her “wish list” if given the chance to become the next President.

Her list includes, among others, the fight against crime and illegal drugs, not allowing the LGBT community and senior citizens to be left out, public health, fight for every nautical mile within the West Philippine Sea, the need to upgrade the Coast Guard and Armed Forces, especially the Navy, the traffic problem, a “standard lunch program” in all public schools, and speeding up Internet connections.
