Cagayan de oro City Police Office (Cocpo) Chief Insp. Ariel Pontillas, head of Task Force Escudero said that this when they found out the ambush was a “professional hit.”

The victim, Ramon Racjec Escudero II of Villa Trinitas, Bugo, was the external relations officer for the Sustainable Livelihood Project of the DSWD 10 who reportedly handled multi-million projects for 4Ps beneficiaries.

“We already have a lead as to why the victim was killed,” Pontillas said.

Based on the testimony of the victim’s daughter, the victim confided to her before he was ambushed that he made some new criteria in the implementation of the projects.

Pontillas said he also confided the same issue to a close friend who already issued initial statements to the police.

Nag-share gyud siya nga duna sia’y problema sa trabaho. Gi-ingnan pa gyud siya sa iyang close friend nga natural na kana nga dunay mabangga sa ilang panarbaho,” he opined.

Pontillas said Escudero handles a sensitive position which oversaw and supervised some technical schools who were accredited by the Technical Education and Skills Development (Tesda) through implementation of the DSWD’s 4Ps training.

“From time to time iyang gina-check ang mga schools nga wala maka-comply sa mga requirements to consider as part of the training. Kini nga mga projects involves multi-million pesos. Dako ang kuwarta involved ani,” he added.

Pontillas said Escudero failed to report the alleged death threats to his co-workers but when police tried to check at his workplace, they noticed on the wall near his table the quotes: “Bisan unsa’y mahitabo as long as we are doing right wala kay kahadlok and just move on.”

Gi-clone pa sa PNP cybercrime group ang iyang cellphone ayha na dayun maecover kung unsa man ang naa sa sulod didto nga mga files. Apil ang mga deleted messages maecover sab,” he pointed out. (lito rulona)
