LYNARD Allan Bigcas is at it again, and this time, he has set his eyes on the mayoral post of his hometown in Bukidnon.

Bigcas, who found himself caught in a web of controversy starting in 2012 after he was linked to car smuggling, a shooting incident in Davao, and subsequently, illegal drugs, said he would file his certificate of candidacy this week for the mayorship of Talakag town.

He claimed to be under the administration’s Liberal Party (LP) whose chairman in Bukidnon, ex-congressman Nereus Acosta, disowned him when he challenged the reelection bid of Bukidnon Gov. Jose Ma. Zubiri in 2013.

Bigcas told reporters, “I am running under LP’s political party. Nakita pud nako nga daghan tabangonon sa Talakag labi na sa isyu sa illegal drugs. This is now my advocacy both in Cagayan de Oro and Bukidnon province.”

In terms of the proliferation of illegal drugs, he said, Talakag was ranked No. 2 by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Bukidnon, next to Valencia City, and was ahead of Malaybalay City (3rd),  Maramag (4th) and Quezon (5th).

“Modaug kita o dili ato kining padayonon. The best way to eradicate the proliferation of illegal drugs is through massive information campaign right at the heart of every school campus. Gikan kita sa pag-gamit sa ginadili nga droga og kita sab karon ang magpahibalo kanila nga dili mogamit niini,” said Bigcas, adding that his town has become a “gateway” for illegal drugs.

He said he would run alone without any group of candidates so that he could focus on his own campaign.

Bigcas would most likely face Talakag Vice Mayor Renato Sulatan Sr. who also said he would be running for mayor under the LP, and reelectionist Mayor Nestor Macapayag of the United Nationalists’ Alliance (UNA).
