THE family has finally decided to donate nursing books to the Provincial Library.

The Provincial Library is located in a most pitiful location. Catering not only to people from Misamis Oriental but also from Cagayan de Oro, this library deserves a better place and bigger in area.

You might not believe it. But the only governor of Misamis Oriental ever to have visited the library is Gov. Bambi Emano. To him I give a double thumbs-up.

Maybe, the governor would like to take my suggestion to heart. The importance of a public library cannot be underestimated or disregarded. A library is a reservoir of knowledge. People go to a library for further learning and reference.

A nephew of mine in Canada worked in a library at the age of 13 something. From menial chores and errands, he is now a full-time librarian with a degree.

I cannot help but promise Luz Prieto and her two companions that I will help in looking for more book donations for the library.

I urge my friends and acquaintances that if you have books sleeping in your shelves, maybe you might consider donating them, not necessarily to the Provincial Library but to any library in the province and the city.

“Laglag Bala” is the “in thing,” or so it seems. We thought the case of the domestic helper would be the last of it. There was an American before her, then a Japanese. Now, an old lady from Boracay! What’s happening to our country?

As if the case of the balikbayan boxes was not enough blackeye for the Philippines, what else can we have in the future? Are all these about Christmas or is it about “Natuwad na Daan”?

No, this is not for the House of Representative to investigate. This is for the new PNP Chief to resolve. Policemen are involved here. The PNP Chief should not allow a few bad eggs to destroy and drag down the image of the institution. Our police are already in bad shape by name. Just recently, a police provincial director was criticized for being ineffective, and wanting in his duty to enforce the law. After the investigation, nothing was heard of him anymore.

The good ones in this institution––I believe the majority of them––must stand up and make their voices heard. Enough is enough! Vendetta from the aggrieved would be most unfortunate.

Be warned. Patience is not forever.

The so-called poor has a penchant for using their condition as an excuse for their offenses against our law. No, it’s not because they were born like that. It is because our leaders teach them to be like that because of politics. Instead of teaching them the right thing to do––that we have to obey and adhere to what they law tells us––our politicians take advantage of their condition. And so we have the line, “Those who have less in life should have more in law.” The law excuses no one, rich or poor. But the poor should wake up as early as possible.

This is my reaction to a Facebook post by CDO-CRCD about a motorela driver picking up passengers in the middle of the street. And that certainly is not about being poor.
