LIKE Vice Mayor Caesar Ian Acenas, Councilor Lourdes Darimbang is also preparing for the possibility of holding a higher post in city hall before next year’s elections.

Darimbang

Darim-bang said she was ready to assume as vice mayor in the event that Mayor Oscar Moreno is booted out of city hall as a result of the case filed by former Taglimao barangay chairman William Guialani.

If Moreno is dismissed from the service, Vice Mayor Acenas would take over as mayor by way of automatic succession, and Darimbang, being the councilor with the highest number of votes in the 2013 elections, would automatically become vice mayor.

Darimbang said she would not have second thoughts assuming as vice mayor if ordered because “I would be charged with dereliction of duty if I don’t.”

She however stressed out that she was not eager to see Moreno dismissed despite her decision to sever her political ties with the mayor.

“I am not praying for his dismissal,” she said. “I am not in a hurry. Let us just wait. And we are not praying that the mayor be dismissed.”

Darimbang said she was more concerned and focused on her bid to unseat Moreno’s political ally, Rep. Rolando Uy, in the 1st District.

“Dili baya basta-basta ning akong kontra kay incumbent baya, so mangandan lang pod ta ani sa sunod nga election,” she said. (nitz arancon)
