The political rivals shook each other’s hands in front of their supporters and Liberal Party presidential candidate Manuel Roxas II.

The chairman of the LP in Misamis Oriental, Rep. Pedro Unabia of the province’s 1st District, said he was amused to see Moreno and Rodriguez together again.

Unabia said Rodriguez, his brother Maximo Jr., representative of Abante Mindanao partylist, and their group were already at Kagay-anon Restaurant when Roxas and Moreno arrived from a radio station.

Seeing each other, the two political rivals smiled at each other and shook hands to the delight of their supporters and the hosts.

After they had their lunch, Roxas, Moreno, Unabia, and other LP members excused themselves and transferred to a conference room.

The Rodriguezes and other Centrist Democratic Party members, including Councilor Lourdes Darimbang, also entered the conference room.

Rodriguez and Darimbang said they came to show that they would support Roxas’s presidential bid.

“Personally, Mar Roxas ang akong suportahan nga presidente,” said Rodriguez, adding that he was for the continuation of the “Tuwid na Daan” thrust of the Aquino administration.

Pressed for comment, Moreno, the LP’s chairman in the city, kept mum and merely smiled. (nitz arancon)
