MISAMIS Oriental Gov. Vincente Yevgeny Emano yesterday cautioned the public against a group that has allegedly been dropping his name in order to solicit money.

Emano said he has brought the matter to the attention of authorities, and has sought the help of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

In a statement, Emano said it has come to his attention that there were people who have been misrepresenting themselves as his representatives, and telling their would-be victims that they were sent by him.

“These are all scams! I am not soliciting money nor authorizes (sic) anybody to solicit for money. No, thank you but I have enough funds to indulge in my simple pleasures and on anything I may want to,” Emano said.

He said the scam was brought to his attention by his friends.

“These scammers are shamelessly bold because they have the courage to approach even my own friends,” said Emano, adding that his friends would not be deceived. “They know the scammers are doing exactly what I would not do.”
