MAYOR Oscar Moreno yesterday ordered security operations stepped up in and around Divisoria in time for a so-called “Mass Population Density Activity” and launch of the “CDO Youth for Team OKKE Movement” here today.
Maricel Rivera, city information officer, said she was expecting five to 10 thousand people, mostly young citizens, to troop to Divisoria starting at 5 pm today.
Rivera said teen celebrities Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla were expected to grace the Divisoria activity.
Moreno activated the Incident Management Team (IMT) of the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office to manage the “Mass Population Density Activity” through Memorandum Order No. 058-2016.
Moreno tasked Mario Verner Monsanto, CDRRMO overseer, to ensure the safety of people who would participate in the activity.
“The team’s primary task is to organize and direct all assigned resources, including resources of national government agencies operating in the city level, for effective, efficient, and safe conduct of the said activity,” reads Moreno’s order.
As early as 1 pm yesterday, the Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) started closing some areas in Divisoria to vehicular traffic.
Hapsay Dalan Task Force chairman Jose Edgardo Uy said portions of RN Abejuela, Tirso Neri, Tiano Brothers, and Velez streets were temporarily closed. (nitz arancon)
