A MAN was killed and his son was badly wounded when a still unidentified assailant peppered them with a hail of bullets on JR Borja Extension yesterday afternoon.
Chief Insp. Alfredo Ortiz, head of Cogon police, identified the fatality as Pio Oclarit, 38, married from San Isidro, Barangay Lapasan, this city.
Ortiz’s six-year old son who was riding with his father on a motorcycle with plate number 5383 KO was hit in his lower back.
Initial investigation showed that Oclarit and his son were riding their motorcycle when the gunman fired at the father and son as they were approaching the new building of Maria Reyna Hospital.
The younger Oclarit was rushed to Northern Mindanao Medical Center while the older Oclarit died on the spot.
Police combed at least 16 empty shells of a 9mm pistol at the crime scene.
The motive for the shooting is still sketchy as authorities declared they would pursue the investigation behind the fatal shooting.
