Camp Alagar spokesman Supt. Surki Sereñas said police ground commanders were ordered to maximize police presence at the schools, including areas leading to campuses.

Sereñas said the public can expect to see police officers on “foot patrol” to prevent crimes and to help in traffic management.

He said the police would also be on the watch for threats to peace and security.

City police director Senior Supt. Faro Antonio Olaguera said the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) is prepared to implement its security plan in connection with the opening of classes.

Olaguera said all police station commanders in the city were given orders to deploy officers to public and private schools.

Olaguera said the Cocpo would also set up assistance desks in campuses, and help the Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) in managing the traffic flow in the city. (nitz arancon)
