He said he has some information about the whereabouts of the group members but he declined to give details.

The alert level in the city has been intensified.

Special Weapons and Tactics troops and 911 volunteers cordoned an area along Roxas Ave. here around 5 p.m. Wednesday when a  bag was left along the road.

“It was later found out that a stone was left inside a bag,” said tourism student Jacky Tan, whose taxi she was riding was among those stopped by authorities during the commotion.

Roxas Street is a busy night market area of Davao where affordable foods, ukay-ukay goods and massage services are being offered to locals and tourists every night.

Duterte, however, said the information on the Isis presence in Davao must be validated first.

“We are intensifying the gathering of information. We cannot disclose details or confirm anything as of yet,” he said.

Duterte said that he has already coordinated with the city’s anti-terrorism group, Task Force Davao, the Davao City Police Office, and the Eastern Mindanao Command of the military to get more information about the threat. (ferdinandh cabrera of mindanews)
