BUTUAN City — An intensity 5.4 magnitude earthquake jolted residents of this city at about 2:30 am on Saturday.

The United States Geological Survey recorded the earthquake at intensity 5.4 magnitude 23 kilometers from this city.

The Philippine Volcanology and Seismology (Philvolcs), for its part, recorded an intensity 4.8 magnitude in Nasipit, Agusan del Norte. Philvolcs said the earthquake was of tectonic origin.

Philvolcs, first recorded the earthquake at intensity 5.4 magnitude in another Agusan del Norte town, Magallanes, at about 6:30 am.

According to Philvolcs the earthquake was felt in Butuan city, and in the towns of Nasipit, and Carmen.

Intensity 4 was felt in two other Agusan del Norte towns, Magallanes and RTR.

However, different disaster councils all over the region reported no casualties.
