He said he opted that the accreditation process of nurseries be simplified even as he urged public and private industry stakeholders to draft the best roadmap for the rubber industry in the region and present the same for support by the national government.

Doing so, he said, would greatly aid the rubber farmers.

Plaza also advocated for empowering and giving voice to rubber farmers to have their needs addressed.  This includes a review of technical processes vis-à-vis actual needs of the industry.

Those who came include Dr. Ismael Elevazo, chair of Caraga Rubber Industry Federation Inc. (CRIFI), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Rubber IC coordinator and assistant regional director Lolita Dorado, together with representatives from enabling agencies – National Economic Development Authority (Neda), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda), Upland Sustainable Agri-forestry Development (Usad) project team, Provincial Agriculture Office, VPO-Rosario Agro-Industrial Development Corp., farmer cooperatives and individual growers.

Some 70 stakeholders attended the Rubber Industry Cluster Roadmap Localization Workshop that was jointly organized by DTI regional and provincial offices.
