DAVAO City–An investigating committee created by Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio is now looking into complaints lodged against 50 city hall employees here.

Lawyer Enrique Bonocan, one of the three prosecutors investigating the complaints, said among the complaints under preliminary investigation are related to absenteeism and tardiness.

Bonocan said any person can file complaints against any city government employee, either by writing or under oath.

“Light offenses are punishable by reprimand or suspension for a few days,” he said. “Less grave offenses are punishable by a longer suspension while grave offenses are punishable by dismissal from service.”

A similar investigating committee also existed during the time of then mayor and now President Rodrigo Duterte.

Bonocan said around 10 employees were dismissed from service during that time.

The investigating committee is headed by City Legal Office Chief Atty Osmundo Villanueva, Jr., with Assistant City Administrator Lawrence Bantiding and Human Resources Management Office Chief Erwin Alparaque as members.

Upon investigation, the committee is tasked to submit its findings and recommendations to the city mayor.

Carpio assigned three special administrative prosecutors for the proceedings. Aside from Bonocan, the other prosecutors are Marlisa Gallo and Janis Lous Esparcia. (pna)
