BARANGAY officials of Balulang, this city, yesterday implemented an ID system for evacuees from Marawi City.

Barangay chairman Alfredo Carcosa said he and other village officials agreed to do this because of the rising number of Marawi residents seeking refuge in Balulang the past few days.

As of 5 am yesterday, barangay officials counted 560 people from Marawi who fled to Balulang.

Carcosa said many of them are with their relatives at Villa Angela Subdivision, Sitio Singapore, Mabasa Compound, and the rest are spread in other areas in Balulang.

He said the ID system is only applies for evacuees from Marawi City.

Carcosa said he would meet with officers of various homeowners associations in Balulang so they could help in checking if there are other evacuees in their areas who have yet to be registered in the barangay hall.

He said the ID system would help barangay officials in knowing who the evacuees are, and would help authorities ensure that no member or symphatizer of the Maute group have intermingled with the evacuees.

He said in ascertaining the identities of the evacuees, Balulang officials would try to get in touch with their counterparts in Marawi for their “endorsement.”

“Pananglitan,  gikan sila sa Barangay Pakpak sa Marawi, mangayo kamig endorsement gikan sa kapitan didto kon tino-od ba nga kining tawhana,  taga Barangay Pakpak ba gayud,” said Carcosa.

If not possible, Carcosa said they would ask other evacuees to vouch for the one who could not present proper identification.

“Magamit  pud kini nga ID kon dunay mga hinabang sa gobyerno kay mao man kini ang ilang i-present nga tinood sila nga mga evacuees,” he said. (nitz arancon)
