Northern Mindanao Police Regional Director Chief Supt. Agripino Javier said aside from razing heavy equipment, the communist guerrillas have also allegedly committed 13 armed robberies across the region.

Among the alleged atrocities include harassment of business establishments and a raid of Dasia Security Agency in Valencia City, Bukidnon province.

Javier also said in their list of atrocities attributed to the rebels are abductions of 10 persons, which includes PO2 Anthony Natividad who was abducted on Feb. 9 in Dominorog in Talakag town.

“What we find very unjust (with the) NPA is that ordinary people are honestly earning their living, sweating it out to feed their families and then the NPA will just easily take their source of earnings away by burning down the heavy equipment and agricultural properties were they work,” Javier lamented.

Javier said this a “clear indication of rebels violating human rights to earn a living.”

He said they continue to be vigilant against the NPA adding the guerrillas might use the siege in Marawi City as cover for their nefarious activities.

Javier called on law abiding citizens not to support the NPA and also called on the rebels to surrender and help in peace-building.
