He assured that the DA has put in place precautionary measures in the region against the deadly strain of the virus traced to San Luis, Pampanga.

Collado said it is unlikely that the virus that broke out in Pampanga would infect humans.

He said quarantine stations would be set up at the Laguindingan airport, seaports  and bus terminals  across Region 10.

DA officials are scheduled to meet with the police, Philippine Ports Authority and other concerned government agencies to map out plans to step up measures aimed at preventing avian influenza from spilling over to northern Mindanao.

The Bureau of Animal Industry has already banned the transport of live and dressed chicken from Luzon to Visayas and Mindanao.

“Amo nang imbargohon ug  pasaka-an ug kaso ang nagdala nia-a,” Collado said.
