POLICE arrested a businessman who caught the ire of his neighbors for allegedly being trigger-happy in a raid in Purok 3, Barangay Alae in Manolo Fortich town, Bukidnon.

Authorities seized high-powered firearms and ammunition as they raided the house of businessman Aldrin Go Diaz in Purok 3, Barangay Alae in Manolo Fortich town, Bukidnon at around 8:10 am yesterday.

SPO4 Noel Oclarit of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group  said the raiding team confiscated a cal. 223 sniper rifle, an Uzi sub-machine pistol, a magazine of 9 mm bullets, a magazine for M16 bullets, a box of  M16 bullets, and 40 5.56 mm bullets.

Diaz, 44, was taken by the CIDG and placed under detention.

Oclarit said the suspect would be charged with illegal possession of firearms and ammunition. He said the seized firearms were unlicensed.

Diaz’s house was raided based on a search warrant issued by the 43rd branch of the Regional Trial Court Branch 43 in Gingoog City.

Oclarit said the CIDG operation was a result of complaints made by residents who alleged that Diaz had the annoying habit of firing his guns apparently just to show off. (nitz arancon)
