DIGOS City — President Rodrigo Duterte has recently confirmed the immediate release of P200 million to finance the building of two vital installations in the city.

In an interview, Mayor Joseph Peñas said P170 million will be used for construction of the new government center, while the remaining P30 million will be for the rehabilitation of the city gymnasium.

Duterte who was the guest of honor during the 17th founding anniversary of Digos told Mayor Peñas to expedite the building plan and program of works and immediately inform Presidential Assistant Christopher Go so that they could quickly act on it.

“I have ordered the city engineer and all department heads concern to prepare all the requirements to hasten the completion of the President’s request,” Peñas said.

He also hired an architect to make the design of the new city hall and the gymnasium.

“The architect assured me he can finish the plan and design within two weeks’ time. It’s good news so that I could immediately fly to Manila and bring the same to the President,” the mayor said.

The old building will soon be demolished after everything will be put in place to pave the way for the construction of the planned five-storey building which will be equipped with high-speed elevators for easy access.

The city gymnasium located just beside the city hall will be refurbished and including the installation of centralized air-conditioning units for added comfort to those who will ne holding their programs and parties there.
