POLICE on Monday arrested a carpenter who was unaware that he was charged with rape nine years ago.
Senior Insp. Bernard Colegio, chief of the Warrant Section of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office, said Ruel Sardido of Baungon, Bukidnon, was arrested at Xavier Estates in Upper Balulang after it was found out that he has a pending arrest warrant issued by regional Judge Francisco Calingin for rape.
“Nagpaecord check na siya dinhi sa office kay policy sa Xavier Estates sa mga aplikante. Panday man gud na siya mao nga pag-check sa iyang record nakita nga naa siyay kaso ug pending nga warrant of arrest,” Colegio added.
Police said Sardido could not believe that he had a rape case but he welcomed it so he could clear his name.
Police said the alleged rape happened in 2008 when Sardido who was 17 years old. The alleged victim was his 16-year old girlfriend then.
