Davao mayor creates ‘Pasko Fiesta’ body

DAVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio issued an executive order constituting the body, which will prepare the events for Pasko Fiesta in December.

In her Executive Order (EO) No. 42 “Constituting the Executive Committee for the 2017 Pasko Fiesta sa Davao,” Duterte-Carpio said she aims to maximize the objectives of Pasko Fiesta 2017 and ensure the smooth implementation of various activities identified for this year’s celebration.

“There is a need to constitute, organize and create an Executive Committee, defining it’s functions and roles, and responsibilities, as well as the different activities that will be implemented, “ Duterte-Carpio said.

The executive committee will be composed of the mayor as the chair and Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte as vice-chair.

The members of the committee are City Administrator’s Office, City Tourism Operation Office, City Social Services and Development Office, City Budget Office and City Accounting Office.

“The Pasko Fiesta sa Davao is an annual event of the city government of Davao, in partnership with the private sector, to celebrate the Filipino tradition during the Holiday Season come the last quarter of the year,” Duterte-Carpio said in the order.

The city mayor said Pasko Fiesta is a season when the city also commemorates peace and unity. The celebration also aims to share the spirit of giving and merry-making among the various society, especially those marginalized people.

“Through the staging of various activities as a way of creating a festive atmosphere in the city, and at the same time promote and showcase the Dabawenyo’s talents, creativity and ingenuity,” she said. (pna)
