A MEMBER of the board of the Cagayan de Oro Water District has resigned.

The resignation of Joel Baldelovar as a COWD director would take effect on Dec. 31, 2017, the water district announced yesterday.

The announcement was made even as COWD said it was soliciting nominations from business, commercial or financial organizations to fill the impending vacuum in its board.

Baldelovar’s term of office is supposed to end next year. His replacement, to be appointed by Mayor Oscar Moreno, would serve the remainder of Baldelovar’s term or from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2018.

There was no official explanation for Baldelovar’s resignation at presstime although another member of the water district’s board said the former broadcaster has opted to accept a new job offer.

Baldelovar’s resignation would end his 13-year stint in the COWD board which he once chaired. He was an appointee of former mayor Vicente Emano.
