City elections officer Ramil Acol told the Gold Star Daily over the weekend that starting today, the Comelec office on Burgos-Cruz Taal Sts., this city, will be open from 8 am to 5 pm, Monday to Saturdays, including holidays, until Nov. 30, for the registration period.

Based on Comelec Resolution 10214, all applications for registration, reactivation, change, and correction of entries in the list of voters must be filed personally, Acol said.

But “there will be no applications for transfer of registration records for this registration period,” added Acol.

For those who want to correct their information in the list of voters, “they must bring the original and three copies of their birth certificate,” Acol said.

He said “for change of status, from single to married, applicants need to bring three copies of their marriage certificate; from married to single, three copies of their certificate of no marriage; from married to widowed, three copies of spouse’s death certificate; and from married to legally separated, three copies of the court order.”

He said registration applicants for the SK elections must have the following qualifications:

  • SK voters must be at least 15 years old on or before May 14, 2018, but not older than 30 years old;
  • residing in the barangay for at least six months on or before this coming election; and
  • not disqualified by law.

As for the registration applicants for the barangay elections, Acol said, they should be at least 18 years old on or before the election day, a resident of the country for at least a year, and in the place where they plan to vote.

“Applicants for new registration must present any valid ID with their current address,” he said, adding that deactivated voters must also bring any valid ID to reactivate their records.

Acol said all the other regular transactions with the City Comelec office such as the issuance of Voter’s Certification and claiming of Voter’s ID cards would also be made during this period.
