COUNCILORS took turns in grilling a representative of Globe Telecommunications over what they said was the company’s poor services in the city.

Councilor Ian Mark Nacaya said the city council has giving Globe clearances for its cell sites in the city and yet its services are found lacking compared to its competitor.

He said Globe has even been given more clearances here than Smart Communications.

“The services of Globe Telecom are weaker compared to Smart,” he said.

Marco Cabello, Globe’s site acquisition specialist for northern and western Mindanao, blamed this on the lack of Globe cell sites in the city proper.

“We have the requirements for every cell site capacity. Ang nangyari sa CDO is that may cell site na sobra ang number of subscribers na naka-assign kaya humina siya. Hindi dapat ganun ang ratio. Kaya kulang talaga ng cell site ang Globe sa CDO,” Cabello said.

He said Globe would soon erect seven new cell sites in the city that would ensure fast Internet browsing.

Cabello said these would be put in place in Pagatpat, San Simon and other areas were the signal is weak.

Nacaya also complained about other Globe services. He cited the case of Councilor Zaldy Ocon who allegedly lost a P500-pre paid cellphone load with a single text message sent.

“I witnessed the incident personally. He lost P500,” Nacaya said.

Others who complained were councilors Annie Daba, Romeo Calizo and Reuben Daba.

They said they can relate with those who are complaining. (lito rulona)
